Aplicação de deionizadores e armazenamento de água purificada

2 Apr 2020

Deionized as well as distilled and purified water is an integral part of all laboratories and is used for preparation of microbiological media, buffers, production of chemical and biochemical reagents, cell culture cultivation, subtle instrumental analysis, chromatography, etc.

It's worth noting that shelf life of distilled water should not exceed 24 hours. To maintain high quality of Type II water during storage special conditions shall be observed: storage tank airtightness, water circulation and heating. It is not recommended to store Type I water at all.

Water deionizers are widely used in radioelectronics. Deionized water is used for flushing printed circuit boards, parts cleaning and 3D printers cooling. Deionized water is also widely used in high-precision engineering due to absence of impurities and dissolved elements affecting quality of a product. Application of deionizers and reverse osmosis systems implies regular purchase and replacement of filters, membranes and ion-exchange resins. Frequency of consumables replacement depends on intensity of use.

Water deionizers, as well as reverse osmosis systems, have several advantages compared to the traditional method of treatment - distillation. Low power and source water consumption are among them. However, all these advantages are often levelled out by the cost of filters, membranes and resins, which should be regularly replaced.

Besides, deionizers and reverse osmosis systems do not ensure water degassing, i.e. gases contained in the water are not removed during the purification process.
